Sharing a Vision

Envisioning a First World Philippines in 35 years

A former rebel turned social entrepreneur, environmental activist and peace advocate, Don Flordeliza, Jr. strongly proposes to pursue the vision of attaining first world status in the next thirty five years.

At 53, Don chairs the Fleur-de-lis Centre for PEACE Inc. and GreenWatch Philippines, Inc., both non-stock, non-profit corporations. Don is also Chairman and CEO of Fleur-de-lis Int'l Trading Corp.

As a student leader, Don joined the Philippine revolutionary movement in the late 60s, turning his back on his scholarships and academic pursuits then. Following the Maoist dictum of "social integration," he lived with the poor masses for sometime and witnessed the stark realities of poverty and violence in all levels of human existence.

He was arrested and imprisoned twice during martial law at a very young age of 16 and was tortured by his captors. The experiences and insights he gained became etched in his character forever. From that time on, he embarked on a search for a higher meaning in life and pursued the service of his fellow men.

Finding differences in methods and principles, he left the communist-led underground after nearly a decade of involvement. He joined the United Democratic Opposition (UNIDO) and participated in the electoral process of the 80’s that ultimately led to the downfall of the Marcos dictatorship. He later joined the National Union of Christian Democrats.

Seasoned over the years, Don continues to cherish his idealism and pursue the vision of his youth - a better society where people can live in peace and harmony, and where everyone have an equal chance for self-fulfillment and growth.

Don chairs the Fleur-de-lis Centre for PEACE Inc. and GreenWatch Philippines, Inc., both non-stock, non-profit corporations. Don is also Chairman and CEO of Fleur-de-lis Int'l Trading Corp.

He is now busy organizing the TransWorld Filipinos Save Our Nation, Inc., another non-profit which will launch a global humanitarian and charity campaign to help the victims of natural calamities

and man-made disasters, including areas of conflict in Southern Philippines, to rebuild their lives.

He is one of those most sought-after breed of former activists turned political consultants. He runs his own public relations consulting and lobby firm, Excalibur PR Mgt. Consultancy. He is also the Secretary General of the newly organized Democratic Party of the Philippines now awaiting accreditation with the Commission on Elections.

Don believes that, with every Filipino acting as agents of change, we can transform the Philippines into a stable democracy with a Tiger economy in less than four decades. He challenges us to make the coming years the turning point of our national existence and our personal lives.

"Let us try to heal the wounds of our people, that we may rise up as a strong nation and compete with the world," he said referring to the havoc left behind by the worst catastrophes that recently visited our land. The floods that ensued destroyed billions worth of crops and properties that would take a few years to fully recover.

Together with Filipino Tiger visionaries like him, both here in the country and in other parts of the world, they are seriously planning to implement actual projects. They collaborate to put up companies that will engage in various export related activities. They will attract foreign investors and negotiate possible joint ventures to infuse the needed capital and hasten technology transfer.

"The Tigerization of the Philippines may not be accomplished during our lifetime," Don added, "but it is a legacy of excellence that we can leave behind to future generations of prosperous Filipinos." In answer to this, he personally promotes Philippines 2020: a clear vision to attain a Tiger cub economy in ten years.
